It hurts!

But I'm hoping it's worth it.

Since my last post I've been doing an awful lot of digging online trying to find some advice or a workout plan that can't fail to make me lose a large chunk of this fat I'm carrying around with me. Well, I found one! It's called the 'Turbulence Training' and it's been reviewed in Mens Health, Mens Fitness magazine and a couple of other places and seems to have gotten everyone really fired up! And if those guys are taking it seriously (with their access to flash gyms and personal trainers) then its got to work for me as well, right?

We don't have many gyms in this area and the ones we have are of the Boxing type than the 24 Hour Fitness type. No juice bars or lap pools here. All my fitness efforts will have to be at home or on the bike so I needed something that would work that way or that I could adapt to work for wherever I was. The great thing about the plan I'm on now is that I can take any of the exercises and techniques featured and put them to use pretty much anywhere. Perfect! So I've been using it for a couple of days now and I'm feeling sore in places I'd forgotten existed. It's hard work but it's got to be worth it!

So my goal is to lose 5lbs this month and 5lbs every month until I reach my 'ideal' weight. Anything more than that is a bonus! I'll keep this blog updated with how I'm doing. And everything else of course.

Wish me luck!

Time of year.

I'm depressed. I woke up this morning thinking it would be a good day. You know, lots to look forward to in the coming month! I turn 47 soon! Ummm... yeah... that's something to celebrate...

Anyway. It's no secret I've been kind of letting myself go a bit lately. I've not been out on my bike in a few days and my last real ride ended at the bar on the way back. Not exactly the healthiest thing to do.

So this morning when I got up and got dressed I pulled my favorite smart pants from the closet. The ones I save for special occasions and fun stuff. I pulled 'em up thinking about what shirt I was going to wear and discovered I could hardly do them up. Crap. This isn't good! They were always close fitting but this was beyond that. I had to breathe in to do the button up and if I did that there was no chance of breathing out. Hmmm. This isn't what I need just before my birthday!

Call it middle age spread, call it winter weight gain, call it me being a lazy bastard lately. I've got to do something about this before all I can wear is sweat pants.

My exercise plan kicks in tomorrow! Which means tonight it's burritos and beer.

Wish me luck!

First Post!

A good friend of mine (thanks, Tom) has been nagging me for a long time now to get a blog online so I figured while I was off work I'd get this up and running and see what all the fuss is about.

I never even used to keep a diary so I don't know how often I'll be making use of this thing. But, if it keeps Tom and others happy then it can't be a bad thing. Ok. Promise to myself time: I WILL UPDATE THIS AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH!

Probably.

If you read my blurb ( ^ up there ^ ) you'll now know I live in the FAR north of Washington state in a town called Malo, (we're closer to Canada than we are to Seattle). I'm 47 and have been in the area my whole life. And to be honest, there isn't much to do here. I'm an occasional Mountain Biker but if you want big town thrills (or even good coffee) this isn't the place you'll find it.

Hopefully this blog will give you all an idea of what is going on up here and what I'm up to. My plan for the coming year is to shape up, get fitter and travel more. So I guess it's plans more than plan but you know what I mean.

Thats more than enough for my first ever post so until next time (whenever that may be!) take care, have fun and stay safe!
